The Lee Canyon Ski Patrol Board consists of five members serving two-year terms: the Patrol Representative (PR), Secretary/Treasurer, and three Members at Large.

In addition, the Patrol is managed by a paid staff member at Lee Canyon who oversees all Patrol operations.

Their responsibilities are as follows:

Patrol Representative (PR)

  • Oversee education, credentialing, and continuing education of patrol members.
  • Ensure compliance with NSP’s Federal Charter, Bylaws, Articles of Incorporation, Policies, and Procedures.
  • Act as the interface between the local Ski Patrol and the National organization.
  • Maintain day-to-day contact with the skiing public and ski industry through Area Management.
  • Identify and develop future leaders within the patrol and NSP.
  • Support and foster the NSP mission statement.

Secretary/Treasurer

  • Secretary:
    • Keep minutes of board meetings and submit them for review within 10 days.
    • Oversee the patrol’s Historian.
  • Treasurer:
    • Manage patrol funds responsibly, oversee budgets, and approve patrol-related expenses.
    • Act as Registrar, maintaining member lists and dues payments.
    • Ensure compliance with 501(c)(3) rules and NSP financial guidelines.

Members at Large

  • Member at Large 1 (Secretary): Responsible for board meeting minutes and overseeing the patrol Historian.
  • Member at Large 2 (Communications Officer): Manage the patrol website, internal/external communications, social groups, and newsletter. Initiate communication with potential candidates and members.
  • Member at Large 3 (Assistant to PR): Support the PR with assigned tasks, oversee education compliance, and ensure adherence to the board’s schedule.

General Responsibilities

  • Attend board meetings and actively participate in decision-making.
  • Oversee and support committees (Educational, Fundraising, Social) and ensure their regular reporting.
  • Form and manage committees as needed for special projects.
  • Ensure compliance with NSP policies, procedures, and IRS rules.

Board members play a critical role in maintaining the patrol’s operations, fostering leadership, and ensuring compliance with organizational and legal standards.
